Engine Swap on Komatsu 730E Haul Truck
Removed and replaced the engine on a Komatsu 730E haul truck at Coal Mac using JP Tech service trucks and knuckleboom rigs for safe, controlled extraction and installation.

Project Overview
P Tech was called to Coal Mac to remove and replace the failed engine on a Komatsu 730E haul truck. The job required full disassembly, rigging, lifting, and installation operations performed on-site with specialty equipment.
Work included:
- Isolating and prepping the engine for removal
- Coordinating heavy lifts using knuckleboom cranes and support trucks
- Extracting the failed engine from the upper assembly
- Installing the replacement engine and aligning components
- Connecting plumbing, electrical, and cooling systems
- Functional checks and startup verification
- On-site cleanup and return to service
The use of JP Tech service trucks and knuckleboom rigs allowed the swap to be completed safely and efficiently with minimal downtime to production.
